'The linen paintings are very much inspired by the work of Patrick Scott. I particularly loved his loose splashy colourful boglands from the 1950s and 60s. I love the colour of the linen combined with strong vivid blues, oranges, greens and whites and of course the dark brown black of branches and stems. They also have a Japanese influence where I lived for a while in the 1980s in the simplicity of design and minimalism of the paintings.'
